Today I went to Time Square. There will be a time counting down on New Year's Eve at Time Square. This is the most famous New Year's Eve event in the world. But I cannot go tomorrow because I am traveling to Washington D.C. tomorrow morning and I will spend the weekend there. Today at Time Square, I saw people establishing stages for tomorrow night's event. But there will be very strict security measures there tomorrow. A whole area goanna be closed for traffic and several subway exits will be closed too. It's natural after 911. Maybe it's not too bad that I miss the chance to go there tomorrow, I am sure it will be very cold, crowded and tiring. Also maybe I can do it next year.
Tomorrow I will leave very early in the morning. I goanna pack up some necessities tonight. It's only for a weekend so I am not going to take a lot of stuff with me.

Today is nothing special but another shopping day. I went to Macy and H&M again on the 7th Avenue to have one suit I bought earlier exchanged. I found a nice sweater with 65% off! Also a nice jacket with half price... I didn't spend too much till now because the stuffs are really good deals with the sales. But still I decided that today should be my last shopping day. I have done with my budget and I have nothing special to buy anymore.
I will go to Washington D.C. on 12/31 and 1/1. It is a very cheap traveling package with a local traveling agency. And D.C. is very close to New York City (like 4 hours' driving). Again I have to spend New Year's Eve alone this year...it reminds me of my last New Year's Eve in Hong Kong, eating cold dumplings alone in the guest house on campus, very bad experience. But after that I think this year cannot be worse.

Shopping Day! Today I went to the famous shopping place in NY ¨C the 5th Avenue. It's really great. There you can find all the big names but also several of my favorite brands. I found some good deals again. The biggest sale of the year is after Christmas. Almost all the shops have 50% off.
I also saw the Rockefeller Plaza and the skating court. I saw a big Christmas tree there. I wonder whether it is the big tree in Home Alone. I began to get used to my life in NY and I enjoyed it more now.

I went to Columbia University today. It was a wonderful trip. I was really impressed by the campus and how well the classrooms are equipped. The campus is much smaller than UCLA but there is a great historical atmosphere and it's obvious that the university is very rich. Jim told me that his tuition fee is $5,000 more than mine! The living expense is more than UCLA but the living condition is much worse.
In the afternoon, I went to a Cathedral nearby and it's huge and beautiful. Later I went shopping in 5th Avenue. It's the part where all the most expensive brands are. I bought a pair of boots in Zara ¨C the very few brands I can afford there. I had a happy day today and tomorrow I plan to go there again.
Visit my SPACE for pics of Columbia.
P.S. thanks Jim for everything today!

Yesterday is Christmas Eve. I went to the 5th Avenue, the Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the afternoon. It was a very nice trip and I took a lot of pictures, but it was very tiring too. Some of the new pics have been posted on my SPACE. Go and see them!
In the evening, I went to a Christmas dinner held by Frank's boss. It was a very traditional American family Christmas. There were around 30 people. The whole extended family was there. They are very rich ¨C super rich in my understanding. Their beautiful house is in Long Island. We had great food, wonderful deserts and the most exciting moment came at 12 o'clock when everyone exchanged gifts and opened them. We were just guests, so no gift exchanging...but I really enjoyed the atmosphere. And it's really funny the way in which those rich people behave. Their kids are so spoiled that they really spoke in a very funny way. The son of the boss, who I guess is only 16, kept showing off how rich he is in front of me for half an hour...it's really funny when such a little boy try to be extremely cool in front of a girl. That's typically American ¨C all about money.
Today I went to the China Town and the Little Italy. I had very cheap Hong Kong food for lunch and I practised my Cantonese again. Really nice food. I had planned to visit the Wall Street and the Statue of Liberty too. But it rained heavily and I didn't take an umbrella with me. Most importantly, there is very heavy fog that I am afraid even if I go I cannot see the statue clearly. I may go next weekend...I have plenty of time...too much perhaps.
I received calls from Jenny and Jackie in the past few days. It's really really wonderful to talk to you~~~ I feel I am really close with you when we talk over the phone. I miss you guys so much but because of the jet lag, sometimes it's hard to call. I will call you, Jessie and Wen later.
Jackie, have you decided for your new hairstyle?
